EPILOBIUM: 

It is a plant of the family of Enoteráceas commonly found in European mountains or northern Asia. It has a rigid stem that can measure between 70cm and 1 meter tall, its flowers have four sepals and four petals pink. With outbreaks salads and other prepared plant used for medicinal purposes.

SUMMARY: A standardized preparation of Pygeum africanum may be a useful treatment option for men with urinary symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia. However, the reviewed studies were small, were of short duration, additional placebo-controlled trials are needed, as are studies comparing Pygeum africanum with active controls that have convincingly shown to have beneficial effects on lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia. These trials should be of sufficient size and duration to detect important differences in clinically relevant endpoints and use standardized urologic symptom scale scores.

SUMMARY: Ethanol extracts of P. africanum have antimitogenic effect (inhibition of proliferation) in prostate cancer cells and the epithelial cells of BPH. This effect is associated with inhibition of the mitogenic action of EGF, which was accompanied by a reduction of cells that enter the S phase of the cell cycle. 

 

For these studies, we believe interesting to include these two plants in treatments for BPH, prostatitis and prostate cancer in the most appropriate dose for each case.
