Changes in lifestyle and tips to promote prostate health by Dr. Larry May.

Recommendations Dr. May to change lifestyle to promote prostate health and urinary function:

TIPS TO PREVENT THE PROSTATE FLASH OR INFLAMMATION

There are a number of useful and practical advice to improve the function of the prostate gland and maintain a better quality of Sexual Life.

1 First, adopt a healthy, low-calorie, low-fat diet with plenty of antioxidant protection. The decrease in fat intake is a key step. Diets high in fat are associated with an increased incidence of obesity and prostate cancer. Increase consumption of fruits and vegetables, with special emphasis on products containing cooked tomatoes, which have a high content of lycopene.

2 Reduce the consumption of milk, cheese, ice cream and avoid high intake of calcium supplements since studies show the possibility of an increased risk of advanced prostate cancer with a very high level of calcium intake in the diet.

3 Consume green tea. It is a powerful antioxidant that apparently provides some protection against prostate cancer.

4 Cut down on drinks that contain large amounts of alcohol or caffeine, which can irritate the prostate.

5 If possible, avoid the use of drugs such as antihistamines and antidepressants, as they can interfere with nerve impulses to urinate. Also avoid drugs such as decongestants, appetite suppressants and bronchodilators, as they may stimulate the prostate.

6 Avoid extreme cold, as it can reduce the urge to urinate.

7 Try to reduce overall stress levels.

8 Do not hold or ignore the urge to urinate.

9 Return to "train" and develop their urinary habits: go to the bathroom regularly, not only in response to an impulse to evacuate.

10 Take time to allow the bladder to empty completely. Sometimes the act of sitting can help.

11 Restrict fluid intake after dinner, to reduce trips to the bathroom during the night.

12 Perform pelvic floor exercises to increase muscle tone and prevent losses.

13 They are known as Kegel exercises, through which you start and stop the process urinate voluntarily.

IMPORTANT: You must visit the doctor for regular checkups prostate from age 40 if you are at high risk or at age 50 years in all men. Also, see your doctor at the first sign of annoying or disabling health of your prostate changes.
